A Propos

Alloco, also known as Aloko, is a traditional African dish made from fried plantains. It is popular in Côte d’Ivoire and other regions of Africa, where it goes by various names such as plantain frites, Misolè, Beignets, or dodo. Etymologically, the name “alloco” comes from “manda alloco” or “bahnan alloco,” terms from the Baoulé and Agni peoples primarily located in the central and eastern parts of Côte d’Ivoire. This dish consists of ripe plantains fried in palm oil or other types of oil. It is often served with fried fish, spicy tomato sauce, hard-boiled eggs, chicken, or meat in sauce. Alloco is highly popular in Côte d’Ivoire and holds a central place in the gastronomy of several West and Central African countries. For those who haven’t tried it yet, alloco is a flavorful and delightful culinary experience!
